4.6is Canadian vs US?

So I am purchasing an Estoril blue 4.6is in British Columbia as I can't find any decent ones in the U.S. however, I had the owner request documents from BMW stating emissions and safety compatibility with US models, is there anything else that needs to be done if I import it into the US?

Are you having it shipped or driving it back? Have documentation showing it was made in the u.s., and you won't have to worry about tariffs. Otherwise, it's pretty easy - just a one page form at the border.

I am having the car shipped. I just wasn't sure as it isn't 25 years old yet.

If you’re*importing cars to the U.S.*from anywhere other than Canada, you will probably need to make modifications.
If you’re*importing a vehicle from Canada, you’ll be exempt from duty. However, you’ll still need to make sure your car meets the EPA and other import standards that the U.S. requires.

To get through CBP, you’ll need the shipping company’s original bill of lading, bill of sale, foreign registration, insurance, and any other document concerning the vehicle. You’ll also need to complete an EPA form (3520-1) and a DOT form (HS-7) even when shipped by the military movers this is pretty easy.
