I buy my keys online for $20...my local locksmith will cut them for $25 each, my AK90 is easy to use and I can program a key in about 10 minutes once I get the EWS unit out of the car.

Valet key. superseded to 51 21 7 124 770 51 21 8 236 594 $39.23 EWS III key (per the bmw mini parts store.com - shows …931 superseded to this) 66 12 6 955 750 $154.65 Diamond key. Master Key with remote control. I wish I had got the "general key," but they did not seem to know about it, and got me 3x valet keys, which all work fine, just not in the glove box, and no light. BTW, the naming is not consistent between sources. I then bought 3x used original diamond keys on eBay for $15 each, cut the key blades off, and programmed them to use as fobs with the valet keys. So I got 3x keys+fobs for $165. I'm afraid to look, but I hear that replacement keys for my Cayenne cost $700+, in case that makes whatever you end up paying seem less painful. Good luck.

Just ordered t he keys from the BMWMINIstore. They ask right in the description for your license and registration so I am hoping that this will work this time. Just received word that they are ordering them today. $100 cheaper A PIECE from them over the local dealership!

Good idea, except the key fobs don't charge while hanging on a key ring. They will soon run out of battery. unless you have a good way of charging them via induction charging

Glad there are folks out there who can think through the whole idea unlike me who just go for it without regard of outcome....

There are a handful of guys who have had luck with the wireless phone chargers. You may have to try a few different ones, as I’m not sure if they are frequency dependent, but it can / has been done Sent from my iPhone using Xoutpost.com |

You can get the fob close enough to charge. Qi charger that changes color when charging will let you know

We received our keys this past weekend and after programming them to the cars they fired right up!
I believe each key was $187 and change after tax and shipping. Happy to have two cars here with two keys each! BMWMINISTORE!

I got mine from a dealer. Of course, it is not the cheapest yet the easiest way.
