The tool worked fine but the bearings supplied with it disintegrated as they weren't quite compatible with the supplied nuts so I just used conventional washers. I tightened the tool as much as I could and then applied some heat to the bearing carrier and could hear an audible crack as it started to move. Re-tightened and repeated once or twice and then it slid out the rest of the way without difficulty.
