True. And whether or not those potential sellers were willing to do no reserve auctions. I believe that BaT heavily favors no reserve auctions.

2 of the 3 were before this auction and dont recall if a reserve auction, the 3rd was a member of this forum I believe and again not sure if a reserve auction or not. This Imola was a reserve auction I think.

Yes, the Imola that sold was a reserve auction by a dealer who has sold other cars on BaT. Being a repeat seller may have been a factor in BaT accepting the vehicle for auction. Given the spectacular result with minimal seller involvement, I don’t see why BaT wouldn’t start accepting a few more IS models. They occasionally feature Limited production Cayenne’s so why not the 4.6 and 4.8IS?

Mine wouldn't be worth much I'm sure at 122k. It's a really nice example, but I think it's low mileage ones that bring in the cash.

IIRC those Cayennes, GTS I think, came with manuals. Those are in high demand as manuals are in most scenarios these days.

I don't think prices are going up considerably anytime soon by any means. But I think the auction was at least an indicator that there will be a market for these trucks in good condition. Mileage will become less and less important (though still command a premium) as time goes on. Following the same story of all the other "special" cars of this era; E46 M3, E39 M5, E39 540i/6, etc. The E53 will have its turn in the sun.

So where do you think I fit in with a manual E53, that has completely re-engineered shift linkage that is as tight as an E46, and more horsepower than a 4.8iS.?

Not all GTS came with a manual, although those do seem to be the ones that BaT likes to feature. None of the Turbos came with manual, and BaT features them occasionally, too.

Depends how you are getting your hp. FI on a 6-cyl is probably not going to check enough boxes, but a built and swapped V8 with a manual might be just the ticket!

There is a built and swapped version of an E53, that has a V12 as its power plant.

The key point here though is that, none of those builds will be all wheel drive.

I have the only all wheel drive E53 with a Manual Gear Box with nearly 425 hp. And it has been very reliable for many years!
