It definitely generated some interest! The discussion of that particular auction is here:

The referenced discussion was indeed lively, but appeared focused on that particular truck, not the effect the high sales price may have on future values of other vehicles. Would still be interested to hear how others think it may affect values....
My own experience is that BaT sales (at least lately) have tended toward the high end of the value spectrum. For rare or limited availability vehicles, they have pulled private sales values along with them—I.e. we may see private sales of 4.6 and 4.8’s increase by 10-20% for low mileage, well maintained examples. Thoughts?

You may very well be right. I think the trucks have bottomed out price wise and are quasi enthusiast vehicles so the price will eventually go up. Sales looked the one on BaT could be an indicator that time is nigh. I, half seriously, joked in that thread the time might be here to snatch up some nice $10k examples and sit on them.

The BaT effect would only be relevant if they accept future examples onto BaT of 4.6/4.8 and they have been very reluctant to do that, I know of at least 3 that were declined.

Bat sales are always higher than private sales. They have been for almost all bmws and most not exotic cars for a while.

Good point. Were those before or after the June auction?
