Question Pre-Facelift to Facelift- Various Retrofits?

Hi,

I managed to find a parts 4.6is with the bumper and arches. I want to install them on my facelift 2004 3.0i. I've heard that the bumpers are exactly the same in the rear for pre-facelift and facelift. Is this true? Also trying to get the wheel arches. Based on pictures it seems like the rear "is" arches are the same, but I can't tell on the front arches. Is there a difference in facelift vs pre-facelift front "is" arches? Also does $500 sound like a decent price for the rear bumper and arches? Sounds like a lot to me but there aren't many other prices to compare to. If only it was a 4.8 I would have taken the front bumper too.

Thanks
Len

I suggest you speak with CrystalWork via PMs and be prepared to become a convert to Aero Kits but he is the arch expert at this point.

Thanks lol. I sent a PM. Not sure if you've had any experience with this but does $500 sound like a decent price for an OEM bodykit? It's pretty faded from the car sitting outside but I can't really find any others for sale.

Answered your pm.

If $500 includes the entire body kit that's a smoking deal. Even if needing paint.

Got lucky it's the same color as my car! Seller says no scratches but I don't trust that since it's sitting in a gravel lot full of other parts cars lol. I'm thinking of getting a few other parts since my car is a base model. Maybe rear footwell lights and if the seller will let me take off the illuminated door handles. Also thinking of a PDC retrofit but I can't use the front bumper since I have a facelift 3.0. Found some good threads about this on here. Anyone know if the 4.6 PDC will work on the 3.0 facelift? parts car is an '03 and mine is an '04

Score. Unfortunate about the front being pre-lci. Sell that and then buy an lci front end.

You'd have to see if the PDC harness was "pre-wired" by BMW on your model. You'd need the PDC module, sensors, and of course the front and rear bumper harnesses. Question is if your body harness has the prewired plugs to accept the front/rear bumper harnesses. If not, adding PDC will be a much bigger challenge.

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping my car is prewired. If it's not I'll just leave the sensors in the bumper and not use them lol. Is there a good way to check if it's prewired? I think I found another thread talking about it but not sure where to look on my car for the harness. Not ready to take the bumper off until I have the other one. Luckily the seller isn't making me buy everything together as a kit so I'm not getting the front bumper. Already have this (not my car, pic from another xoutpost thread by Clockwork)

I can't find an lci 4.8 bumper anywhere so far so I think I'll stick with just this skid plate and maybe black grilles. Also I don't have headlight washers so that makes the search harder.

I think I'll just pick up the PDC module and only rear sensors. To get the fronts I'll have to get the seller to remove the front bumper. Anyone know the location of the gong and the module?

Also I want to get the illuminated door handles from the car but don't want to swap door panels. Is there a way to pull out the handles without taking the panels off?

Thanks

The front harness would be located on the right side of the vehicle. Around the edge of the bumper support but it would be much easier to look for the rear module harness. That should be in the battery/electronics tray.

Thanks for the picture. So I should see those 3 wires going into the module in the yellow box just hanging there, correct?

EDIT: Just took out the spare wheel and cover and found the 3 connectors zip tied up! Also found a 4th connector farther up the harness. Any idea what that is for?

EDIT 2 lol: Just realized it's probably for the TV module.
