I had a car once with 60,000 miles that grew up on Dino oil and I switched to blend that engine was so clean that I drove about 60 miles after an oil change and checked the level. The oil was clear and yellow. I've been party to dozens of oil changes and the oil is usually Brown in less than a minute so I was blown away. Chevy Beretta V6 I believe that must have been a unicorn of a motor.

Anyhow until the Dino oil breaks down it should do a proper job of lubrication as long as 5W30 (or whatever is on your fill cap)

My X5 turns fully synthetic oil black in about 10 miles after an oil change. The color of the oil doesn't necessarily represent the condition of it. But look at how clean the engine is, even with how quickly it turns engine oil black.

Almost 300K miles on the M52 engine, and guess what it was all conventional oil.

So don't worry about all this conventional vs synthetic...

I would not hesitate to use conventional oil in a pinch.

I'm aware since that is what usually happens. Since you only change maybe 85% of the oil during a typical change the soot In the remaining oil makes the brand new oil petty opaque.
Conventional oil breaks down typically by 2500-3500 miles hence the 3000 miles recommend change interval.

Modern synthetic oil really doesn't break down. It needs to be changed because of the soot and other contaminants that collect in the oil.

My engine leaks enough currently that I could simply change the filter annually and never drain the oil. Hopimg to resolve that with a pan gasket replacement in the next few weeks.
