Headlight warning lights come on

Total newbie here just bought my x5 e53 3.0. and I'm looking to get a few bits of input.

1. the headlight warning lights seem to come on at dusk and al the lights seem to be working just fine. this does not seem to occur at any other time of day. help would be appreciated.

2. what is a good product to use to get the black plastics back to their original state they are faded significantly from the sun.

thanks in advance!

Welcome. Do you have the hi cluster or low?

So are you saying that the headlight warning lights come on at dusk when the automatic headlights come on but not when you switch the headlights on manually?? This is probably a "Hot check" problem related to the amount of current the headlights are drawing, maybe not original equipment? A problem with the side lights(halos) could also cause the headlight check warning.

I used "Forever Black" about 2 years ago and it has held up pretty well. And I use the car wash. It has faded some and it looks like it's about time to reapply. Works much better than all those other plastic restoration products. They last a couple months at best.

it seems to happen when the switch is in the automatic setting. It does not go away when I move it to manual.

High (spec) cluster uses text along the bottom of the cluster to alert you to issues.

Low (spec) cluster has icons to warn you of issues.

What is the EXACT warning you get? And where?

Somebody with a Low Cluster can confirm (as i have the High Cluster) but maybe it's just informing you that the headlights are on (automatically)?
