My local Autozone has a key “reader” that tells you if your key is broadcasting and on what frequency. Is there an Autozone near you by chance?

Pretty sure 315MHz is only used in North America....
Out here in Australia and New Zealand all the BMW keys work on 433MHz.

Interesting...
We get a lot of JDM cars here, imported as used vehicles. The BMWs I've dealt with have had 433MHz key fobs, although my "sample" isn't statistically relevant! 315MHz is not allowed to be used for key fobs here in NZ - the frequency is allocated to other services. Perhaps the importer has to swap the key fobs over on import?
