4.8is Suspension Woes

Hello All!

So, I recently purchased a 4.8iS and been having issues related to the air ride suspension. I have attempted to run the codes and none returned. I press the button to adjust ride height and the height will not adjust up or down.

I can, however, run INPA and adjust the ride heights and the compressor will fire on to raise or lower the car. The compressor never turns on if I open the car or upon start up, and when I i adjust heights (via INPA) 3 out of the 4 sensors wont register a height, so when I adjust, all 4 corners will be at slightly different heights.

After about a week, I will have to use INPA again to re-adjust the height as all 4 corners drop.

Has anyone run into something like this? I am leaning towards it being the ride height sensors given the compressor never kicks on unless i manually do it through INPA. I dont think the bags have a leak (although could be possible) given that all 4 go down over the course of a week and the compressor never kicks on.

Any insight would be much appreciated!

On the off chance...

Did the PO maybe tell the system that ride height was off/deleted?
Does everything say active (in German) or not?
Last but just as possible are all your fuses good? Relays? Switch block?

Thanks, EODguy! See responses below:

Did the PO maybe tell the system that ride height was off/deleted? - bought from a dealer unfortunately, so no answer here.
Does everything say active (in German) or not? - yes, sir.
Last but just as possible are all your fuses good? Relays? Switch block? I checked all fuses and they were good. Not sure about the switch block, what is that?

Your rocker switch for height adjustment (sorry) is it blacked out or showing a solid light that flashes in the direction of adjustment and either hangs that way or just goes back to lights previous position?

The relays in the rear that control the pump think it's #57 but not sure as I'm going off memory.

Reviving this one. So, I was able to adjust the height via INPA, but no error codes are being thrown. The car will not adjust the suspension to proper height when opening the driver's door, turning the car on or using the switch (it stays lit in the "normal" position, nothing happens when i want to adjust lower or higher).

I usually have to adjust the suspension each week via INPA (reinflate and set height). The height sensors seem to be working as they are registering heights upon inflation (albeit the heights all over the damn place), but not sure what is supposed to prompt the compressor to turn on at the beginning of a ride (open door or turn on car) to set to correct height.

Any insights? Checked all the fuses and all is well...

Last gasp is the switch is dead/dying and if it's not that then I hate saying this but, it is most likely your ride height controller dying or like mine something is killing it and you will have to replace it.

For me something was killing the controllers and I never figured out what so I did away with the air suspension.
I wasn't getting codes till it collapsed on a hard curve on ramp (then it wasn't shy about throwing codes)

ugh, EODguy - you may be right. Still odd that I dont have a code that is throwing an error for anything!

Same here. In my case I think it was a problem with the offset counter for my front left height sensor. Only sensor that never read correctly but I lacked a way to reset it at the time and replacing it with a new OE unit did not do anything.
