X5 to drive is on a distinguished road
What is this hose for and where is it suppose to connect?

2004 X5 4.4L

I noticed this line disconnected when I was working on the X5. I'm trying to figure out what this line goes to. It seems to be harder than the regular soft hoses.
Is it a vacuum line? And if so, where is it suppose to go?

Thanks!

This is just the vent for the anterior differential. It is supposed to be open. You are all good.

Hoopie knows what he's talking about. I have the same 4.4 and wondered what that was when I was poking around the engine bay when I first purchased it.
