The radio module was probably in the CD player they took out. I think as stated above the only radio modules in the rear were navigation equipped cars.

There's something funky in the dash - that extra connector needs a home.

It looks like it should be plugged into the back of the large black "40-pin" assembly but that spot is already taken up. Has someone added and aux feed into that spot and removed the factory connector?

This is what is normally in there...

Only strange thing is there is no antenna connection on the amp, just the speaker/power loom. Now you have me curious, when I get some time I’m going to do some digging and start unplugging things and see what’s live and what’s not, maybe it’s a “placebo” unit back there or artifact of an old system, so strange...

Not doubting that only NAV cars have the unit in the well, just wondering if mine might have been an original NAV car and had the units removed for some strange reason.

EDIT: I am still running the factory BMW radio so if the radio module was in the cd changer prior, how would the factory radio/display still be functional?

I would be willing to bet you had a non navigation with Alpine HiFi system that had the radio antenna up front as posted by wpoll a couple posts above. There were non navigation cars with the Alpine HiFi but they still used the CD unit as the radio module. If you find a radio antenna in the rear, I would be corrected.

Nah - the MID connection it the other white connector with the grey cam/lever, over on the right. I'm referring to the 14-pin, white-shelled black connector on the very left...

The radio receiver module was never is a CD-Changer - but is built into the back of the Businesses (or Professional) CD-Player (in the dash).

Does your Businesses CD-Player have the Fakra antenna connector on the back?

Didn't see that connector in your first picture. I definitely see some slicing going on in your second picture though. With 3 wires in that connector, maybe is was an aux in harness that was never installed properly? Strange indeed.

Saw wpolls post also, and you guys are probably right

Did they run the cd changer with the single in dash unit?

The first picture I posted was for reference - it's not the OP's car. The second picture i posted was the OPs picture, from his first post in this thread.

Sorry - I need to label the pictures more clearly!
