All great info getting plugged in.
I saw a set of DWS06 on a Mercedes sporty style car. The front tires had indications of sidewall peel over. Meaning, the sidewall of the tire was contacting the road surface. That seems to be a little too soft for my needs. I would not want to test out the Continental 30 day trial system. If the sidewalls were firmer, I think I would be all over these. It really does leave a gap for me. Still looking. Maybe thinking a set of 18" winters , and wheels...and the Toyo ST 3 for spring summer fall. Seems the ST 3s have mixed reviews on wet traction. There was a used set of Michelin Alpin PA4s for sale local.
315s, but the fronts were 245s vs the 275. Good tread, and well priced. |

Looking into the Michelin options.
Any thoughts? Michelin Pilot Sport AS4 https://michelinmedia.com/pages/blog...ticle/c0/a990/ Interesting to see if they're replacing the AS3+ with the AS4. Or still make the AS3. I can get the AS4s at Costco for 315s $399 CAD, and 275s for $359 CAD. 25 years ago, I stayed away from Michelin, as they had a really thin inner layer. Made repairs more of an issue. Honestly, I'm really surprised that Toyo is not on their game with a good option for such a large SUV market. The local BMW dealership...80% of new lot vehicles, are X series. |

I won’t say all Costco’s are bad but I will say the Costco that my father in law used (I begged him not to) broke 2 of his studs and didn’t say a word, they just popped 4 lugs back on two tires and sent him down the road. He came by the house next day to show me “their great work” and tell me about “the great deal they gave him” which is when I asked him about the missing lugs only to find out they were completely broken studs...
Ran back over with him and the manager actually accused him of “messing with it after he picked it up and breaking them himself”... the dudes 73 years old... Needless to say after calling Costco Corporate and having to file a complaint in writing, they fixed their issue - after three weeks! I’d get their best price and then hit the local Firestone, Goodyear, etc and have it done by actual tire guys . Firestone will almost always bend over backwards to price match in an effort to take your business from the competition, I’d give it a shot. Sent from my iPhone using Xoutpost.com |

Good info on Costco. I once worked for a really good tire service store 30 years ago. I'm leery about taking these amazing wheels just anywhere.
The AS4s seem to be hard to source. Maybe Costco will do a cash and carry...lol. Good call on the price matching. I'll see what I can do. Harder when availability is scarce, but then more of a challenge. Gotta sharpen up the 'Never Split the Difference' skills. |

Pretty much set on the pilot Sport AS4.
Now is the hard part of locating some that are well priced. Best so far is Canadian Tire...$377 for 315s. With a Military discount. Just no stock...8 weeks out from Michelin. Apparently, Michelin has been hit hard due to Covid. Or they are focusing their distributor order fills in the lower 48 first. What are the issues with run flats? Weight? Inertial mass tonget rolling and stop? |

I've been very happy with these and even though I have not been on snow they are great on oil slicks and asphalt pavement made from crude oil.
