I love me a good princess auto deal and considered getting something along those lines but I was also curious about the fancy new technology that was out there nowadays. Also, that battery load tester type doesn't provide any other info or testing capabilities. Snap-On and all the usual players all have a digital version of a battery tester and if that's the case I figure the technology has to be reliable enough...not that I bought any decent brand but like I said in my non scientific testing it seems to be pretty accurate so far. and I picked that thing up on sale for under $40 Canadian and wouldn't have to go more than 2 blocks from my house to send it back to Amazon if I didn't like it. I couldn't find a better deal than that and believe me I tried |

Advanced auto battery test came back as a good battery. Removed the MK3 navi, Dietz module and the cd changer and no more wake up noises. The amp is still in there but not connected at all...

The nav is one of the things that typically cause battery drain due to not going to sleep. The others are the Telematic Control Module (bluetooth) and FSR (final stage resistor - speed control for cabin fan).
The TCM can usually be reset by pulling the fuse for it. The FSR usually needs to be replaced. |

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. There have been guys on here that reported their shifter light never goes out even when the car goes to sleep. When I was having issues with the TCM causing my battery drain problems the shifter light would go out, the TCM was not asleep. It was draining my battery.

I would check the left rear where the NAV was to confirm you don't have the TCM. The PO might have left it in there. It's down low. A rectangular silver metal box with, I think, three wire plugged into it. Or you can pull the fuse for it. I can't remember the number. If you do have it, that will kill the power to it. |

It's a lot of guessing if you don't actually measure the draw to see if there is even a problem, how bad it is, where it is coming from and even if you have it fixed or if it can happen again.

lower right part of that compartment in your picture. At an angle. A little lower than the metal box on the left side.
