On mine, I just removed the 2 10mm bolts that held the expansion tank and bracket in place and pushed it forward enough to get my hand in there. Didn’t have to take any thing additional apart.

It appears access to it is directly under the oil filter. What model and year is yours?

I've changed it by reaching around the backside, between the containers. The top side of my hand is against the light housing. The other way I've done it is by removing the two 10mm bolts above the headlight that hold the reservoir bracket, and just tilting them back. Pretty simple and quick.

ok, that sounds better although I do have large hands but it appears only a few bolts either way.

ok, in my case with big hands and for anyone else with my model I removed the three bolts holding the overflow coolant tank frame/bracket and the two bolts holding the steering fluid reservoir (all bolts 10mm). These bolts were easy access directly from the top. Then I gently moved both away. I found having the steering fluid reservoir and the expansion tank/frame independent it was easier to move. Need to be careful of the fluid level sensor at the bottom of the coolent expension tank.
With these items away you really get a lot of room to see what is going on. I noticed that someone before me has broken the locating part off on the angel eyes weather cap. Looks like I need to source one of these and do it all again. But it was so quick to gain access will not be a problem. I notice on the drivers side access it is completely clear of obstacles. Well, job done. cheers all James

Just an add on in case you don’t want to search.
If you have a “check park light error” and one side of your angel eyes lights are out but the indicator light is full on when you have the lights on park then it is a blown angel eyes bulb like I had above. BMW replaces the blown angle eyes bulb with the brightness of the indicator in their wisdom of design. cheers
