He said that after I calibrate the steering angle sensor the lights should go away on their own, otherwise I'll need to program. I guess I'll be learning about DIS if that happens.

I believe my 02 4.6 recalibrates the SAS by moving the steering from lock to lock and back to center.

TURN YOUR STEERING WHEEL LEFT TO RIGHT AND RIGHT TO LEFT THEN BACK TO CENTER , SHUT CAR OFF FOR A MINUTE AND RESTART, Sounds simple enough, I thought i'd have to do it through a scanner. Hope the coding goes as easy! Thanks for all the tips.

I got the replacement ABS module from modulerepairpro and installed it. Did not need to code, all I had to do was the steering sensor calibration which I did without a scanner, there's a good description of the procedure here.
Trifecta lights went off immediately, CEL went off after a brief drive. And my speedometer works again! I did clear the codes afterwards with the Foxwell. Turnaround was quick from module repair, I was a little disappointed in how filthy the case of the "rebuilt" module was, not that it really matters, the internal parts that I could see looked quite clean. But I had cleaned my case before I sent it to them and it just seemed a bit unprofessional. Mostly this is a sigh of relief to have those problems out of my way so I can get back to work on the suspension (on this one) and the cooling system on the 2005.

Sounds like your ABS module went well !
I'm on my second ABS. 1st one was replaced around 50K-60K if I recall.... Second one was around 130K-140K if memory recalls. I sent to BBA and I have zero clue WTF was up, but they shipped it back out the same day they received it and when I called them saying u guys repaired it that quick, they astounding said YES . Their rebuilt was not fixed, time wasted . Got a refund and I just sprung for a new one. |

I got mine back from Module Repair Pro and installed last week. No faults were found in my ABS Module. I also have a brand new Bosch transversal-acceleration sensor installed. I put it back in the X5 and after recalibration of the SAS and transverse acceleration sensor I still have the errors for:
54 DSC: rotation rate sensor plausibility 6A DSC: transversal-acceleration sensor plausibility It's at least nice to have the ABS module back in so I can have speedometer and cruise again. Working with Gino at repair module pro was great. He was honest and tried to help me troubleshoot over the phone. I will use him again for future module rebuilds. Now I get to keep going on my stupid trifecta witch hunt.... Gino suggests a bad wire or loose ground.
