Agreed. The stock 10-speaker non-DSP system is actually pretty good, just lacking bass. The amp & sub was one of the very first mod that I did to the car and it still sounds phenomenal after 16 years! A 10" sub is all you need in our cars since it sits in an open cabin.
Upgrading speakers with the stock amp is a tricky task since BMW uses non-standard impedance speakers.
