Ditto this...I popped off the e53 rear wiper and popped on an e70 rear wiper. I had no problem...like Fifty150hs...I didn't have a rear rain sensor.
It's also gives a "smoother" look to the rear since the design of the wiper arm shrouds the spring mechanism.

You can see how the e70 rear wiper clears the rear window in the pics below:

Here's some random exterior pics of what the e70 rear wiper looks like on an e53...and yes, you just reverse it...the e70 rear wiper sweeps from right to left...the e53 sweeps from left to right:

Use a super lube on the hinge. That's what fixes mine every time. Lube it and then work it so it's good and smooth. I do like the e70 look though....

I didn't know there was a sensor back there. I don't think I have one. Just a timed wiping action. Neat to know.

Don't you? :-p

It's very nice I usually would leave it on ; front and back so the sweeping is full auto. Reading the owners manual it seems I may have just been fooled by the intermittent wiper on the back. I will do a little test next time I'm driving my car.

I think we're closer to the truth here.

...it's incredible how the price has dropped for the e70 rear wiper arm & blade. Back when I first saw this mod discussed...it was a king's ransom for this small item. A lot more e53 owners probably would have done the mod...but were put off by the cost of switching to the e70 rear wiper. It's good to see the cost has dropped to a reasonable amount.
