So the tool I ultimately ended up ordering arrived today.

I used this thread to help with installation of PA Soft 1.4 on Windows 10: https://www.bimmerfest.com/threads/r...guide.1397475/
This gets the drivers from https://drivers.rudydelorenzo.ca/ which ultimately did not work. When I try to install the first of the two drivers, I get this error. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1weT...ew?usp=sharing If anyone knows why, I would greatly appreciate the help. (Yes I did turn off driver signing enforcement before trying this)

I think you need to get a XP machine. There's a work around if you have a Window 10 machine, but my BMW Scanner 1.4 is installed on a XP machine.

As a side note just 11 more posts till I hit 7000 posts.

Just catching up, been out of town running like a chicken with my head cut off... if memory serves (I’ve had mine for a while now) I paid $24.99 doe mine with cd, adapter and a 10’ cable. Mine came packaged very nicely and worked spot on the first time once I got the adapter setup.

I'm probably just going to run a VM to get it all set up. Store it on a small external hard drive so I can keep it with me.

I’m running mine on Windows XP also. I, just about two weeks ago, built a new Windows 10 laptop for all of my BMW software but haven’t migrated over yet.... I can’t bring myself to go through the pain when my XP setup works as well as it does.....

I need help from one of you guys who is running XP already. I have already tried to use windows 10 and have not had any luck. I downloaded Virtualbox and installed XP in a virtual machine. Everything was going according to plan until I am now unable to get the "Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controler" driver, even when directly point it at the driver I got off of the internet. It also refuses to download the drivers off of the internet directly, as it doesn't seem to be able to access them. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

As far as I can remember running P.A Soft BMW scanner 1.4 on a usb converter to serial port was always a problem. I using a Sony Vaio laptop with a serial port and not running it through a USB to serial converter.

Try this website. They are more active in BMW software.

So it turns out I had it working properly on win10 the whole time, I just didn’t plug it into the car so it threw a “faulty hardware.” Thanks for all the support from both of you guys!
Side note: in the IKE code, what line/column changes the bias of the speedometer? I saw a thread on E36fanatics but it seems that the location is different than on the E53. Mine is an 05 incase that matters
