Even vehicles with rear air springs still have a rear shock absorber.
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=33_1031 You would need to tighten it with the vehicle in normal position and torqued to 127 Nm. Tightening when the vehicle is not on the ground must be avoided. First connect it when the vehicle is off the ground. It's gonna be tough. Then lower the vehicle and torque it to spec. I did a complete suspension overhaul right in my garage on my back. I'd recommend inspecting all the work they did, especially the top of the shocks where they connect to the vehicles body.

Mechanics are human beings too.
Sometimes people (shop owners, other mechanics) come and talk to the mechanics, causing distraction. This is why I always have a clean work area: - Clean the garage floor before doing any work. - Any nuts/bolts removed: I place them on a piece of cardboard. If necessary, I label them so during installation, it is a breeze. Once done and everything buttoned up, I always mentally go through all the nuts/bolts to be sure they are all torqued correctly...When in doubt, check again. Then test drive in the neighborhood and/or highway...
