Valve cover gasket end up to resolve an heater issue

Long story short, i always had that issue with my heater that, whatever temp a put between 18.5c to 32c it always feels like its 32c , no difference between 22c vs 32c... in the end i never repair this because all the BMW pro garage i went, they didnt point out the problem .... so i been living with that for the past 5 years..

so this week i went to the garage to replace a valve cover gasket and the grommets as well ... and guess what ? no more heater issue... i can now feel the difference between 24 vs 32 or what ever number....

so how a valve cover gasket replacement end up to resolve this heater issue... im curious, anyone can see how ???

I'm guessing the valve wiring was tweaked during the repair. Was stuck open but now works properly

I'm thinking more like loose connector that was pushed in tight while doing the other job

ok it can be ...

but the sad part is the following

-i did some city drive since i got the car (near 40 miles) doing 60km/h everything A1 no burning oil smell

- today i decide to make a trip and did some highway during 4 hours... at the beginning i didnt push the car that much doing 100- 110 km/h and there was no burning oil smell, but near the end of the trip i decide to floor it a couple time, did steady 130km/h and then start the oil burning smell ;(

...so one thing i didnt say, its i also have a oil filter housing leak, but i didnt replace, quote was 1000$+ ... so can i leak from there gave a burning oil smell ???

can it be old oil smell ??? .. IMO old oil burning smell should be gone by now , i drive near 40 miles with no oil burning smell , before the burning smell came today

Could be old oil smell. It can take a little bit to burn off. Leaking OFHG not the likely source. Replace the OFHG yourself. It's not a very difficult job. Get a Viton gasket from ECS and you'll never have to touch it again.

is it ok to shoot some degreaser or brake cleaner ? knowing that it would spill everywhere on other component like belt , alternator etc .. i plan to use the whole bottle and generously spray it
