DSC will go bonkers if wheels in the air. What are wheel speeds doing when you drive? If you get no speed from any particular sensor it should disable the system.

I am getting ready to measure wheel speeds again, this time on the ground. Before I took the sav off the stands, although knowing by build date this is not a xdrive unit, I wanted to check the TC for identification markings to see if it had been previously swapped out with another unit. Figuring although the window was small a unit with a build date after the vehicle build date would indicate a swap. The identification markings are not on a tag as I expected they would be but are engraved on the transfer case. 2710-7 515 748.0 SPT LWX 1220800 0052556 11-12-02 Indicating not a NV125 but a LWX500, still a single chain driven direct drive transfer case. The build date is consistent with the vehicle. But my understanding is that the NV125 was used from 98-03 and the LWX500 was used from 02-03 but only coupled with the 4.6. Since the vehicle drives both front and rear with DSC disabled, indicating not a front shaft compatibility issue the info was more informational and probably moot pertaining to the problem.. I post back with on the ground wheel speeds shortly. |

REAR left and right wheel: no wheel speed provided from either sensor. FRONT left and right wheel: wheel speed provided, FL & FR speeds matched each other, (up to INPA limit). When performing this test the increase in speed was met with increase in braking on the front wheels. The hypothesis of Rear wheels not getting a speed signal but fronts do, therefore the DSC brakes the fronts could be a valid explanation. Moving forward I presume I should be again going over the wiring between the module and the rear sensors and the sensors themselves to include physical attachment. After that possibly the rear wheel bearings..? Any thought? |

The weird part is getting no codes. Usually if speed stays zero it's because defective sensor or wiring. (and often that wiring is inside the module; bad bond wires).
Their is a reliable knock off on Amazon (sort by review); I would get a sensor or two and see if the sensor is at fault. Speedo uses left rear sensor. I would start there.

You can do some reality checks with using thermostat wire to run the signal wire from a non working wheel to a working wheel sensor.
You can buy replacement connectors to make the process easy. It's the best way to confirm the wiring and abs unit are working. The abs unit tests the sensor at start and will kill the power if it detects a problem but you should get a code if it happens.

First I took the rear wheels off, and disconnected the right sensor connector and physically removed it. Cleaned the male and female plugs with contact cleaner and also cleaned the mounting surface. Re-assembled and checked the wheel speed. I know have RR wheel speed.. I did the same for the left wheel but still no LR wheel speed.. I reread your comments about the codes. It took me some time and rereading other posts to understand exactly what or more importantly where the codes you were referring to. I say this because using PA Soft I had no ABS/DCS errors and no trifecta, or any related warning lights. But in INPA, something I bypassed going to wheels speeds.. F4 then F1.. ----------------------------------------- -------------------- RESULT: 2 errors in error memory! -------------------------------------------------- ----------- 90 Time-limited passive switching Error frequency: 255 Vehicle speed 2.75 km / h ASC not switched passive ABS control passive BLS not activated ASC control passive ACB passive HBA passive ECD passive HDC passive ==== 30 Rear left speed sensor Line interruption Error frequency: 254 Vehicle2.75 km / h ASC not switched to passive ABS control passive BLS not activated ASC control passive ACB passive HBA passive ECD passive HDC passive ====== So I swapped the speed sensors and the problem followed the sensor. I now have LR wheel speed but no RR wheel speed. The sensors are not branded and I presume are not OEM. Even though the one sensor is now providing wheel speed I plan to order 2 new rear sensors just to be safe. I am researching what Time-limited passive switching relates to. Any input is appreciated. |

I was just reading over my PA Soft log and I need to correct what i wrote about no PA Soft ABS related errors... There was a temporary system deactivation error that cleared when i cleared DTC's..
ABS -> 5A/FF - Temporary system deactivation Errors after clear: no errors |

AIP Electronics ABS Anti-Lock... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FSC3SOA...p_mob_ap_share
I've used a few. never had a failure in 2-3 years. They are so easy to change not worth 3-4x the price for OEM (maybe for wife's car in winter). It's more mission helpful than mission critical components
