Turned out to be a bad ECU unit. Replaced it, wrote the new ECUs ISN (synchronization PIN) to my original EWS unit (the immobilizer module), paired EWS and ECU, and that allowed it to fire up and run.

So what's the process here? You just swap in the M57 and associated bits and then change modules in INPA so everything speaks diesel? Are things like the harness/connectors to the cluster the same?

Can you please expand on what models use these two ratios? Is it an e53 euro spec x5 diesel? Swapping the rear did is easy but finding a front dif that mates to the m57 is a bit challenging

3.64 ratio diffs from the 00-03 4.4i. M57N manual has 3.23s and M57N auto has 3.91s. The 3.64s are easily acquired in the US and are an intermediate ratio between the two.
