X5 4.8is Rear Suspension Overhaul

I have not posted in a while, I wanted to share what I am doing with my 06 4.8is rear suspension overhaul. 201k

I had planned to do next year, but bad wheel Bearing moved up time line.

Work plan

Remove entire rear subframe carrier, replace with all new arms,
New subframe bushings, differential bushings, new swing arm bushings, new diff side axel seals, new wheel bearings, new parking brake cables, hardware, shoes. New rear brakes ( rotor, pads and sensor) rebuilt calipers. Also planning on replacing both brake steel lines all that up to the front.

All reusable components will be cleaned, blasted and reconditioned with paint. Rear subframe will be blasted and coated with POR 15 and then painted black. Diff housing cleaned and also coat with POR 15 and painted black. Swing arms painted silver prior to new bushings installation.

Additional work
Replace trans oil with filter and zf oil. Coolant tank replacement. Flush brake fluid

Guibo, center shaft bearing and check radiator tanks/header plates and the transmission cooler for leaks. (White Witch taught moment)

Buy an extra set of the flanged trans cooler rings, because the flange can get folded over if you are lined up right and jiggle it into place. (What I did and they're only $1.25 each)

Update
Replaced all bushings in the entire rear end, replaced all
Brake lines, replaced diff side seals. New rear brakes along with parking brakes and new parking cables, rebuild calipers
Alignment, best I could get was -1.5 to -1.6 camber

That is a serious undertaking! Impressive, will look (and function) amazingly when you're finished.
