Big Bear Weekend with the X5!

So we took the X5 up to the snow this weekend, rented a cabin on the lake, so very fun, the fiance, my family, his family and I, anyways, it was snowing like crazy and chains were required but not the all wheel drive x5! , it handled like a gem and was just wonderful, the ski-holder in the 2nd row seat was very useful for us (I got cold weather pkg), I finally got to use the heated steering wheel for a use lol, and the car while dirty held up great

Thumbs Up
-Heated steering wheel
-Perfect tracting even on slippery ice
-Perfect X-drive even when driving in deep snow and ice

Thumps Down
-Frozen Wiper Blades (hard as rocks!)

Other then that great!

Snow-snowed all days, perfect weather, deep perfect powter (we all ski!) and all lifts open, totally amazing, not super busy at all, very awesome, one sour note the other half got hit by a reckless snowboarder and hurt the hip bone!

Hope you all have a great weekend!!!!

Were the CHPs checking for chains (carried) even with all wheel drive?

yeah, they stopped us, asked us if we had all wheel drive and then if we had chains if we needed them, we said yes to both and he waived us through

CHP requires to only SHOW chains not to put them on. It's all good, I was there last weekend, when it was snowing, really bad...
It's fun driving the X in the snow. Real FUN!!!

Ditch the OEM blades, get the Bosch Icons.

I agree, the X5 is great in snow and dry. Safest vehicle I've ever driven. That's saying something, considering my '79 Bronco XLT survived 3 attacks by other vehicles with barely a scratch and $200 to repair a front 4-wheel drive locking hub. (That was a tank!)

The windshield wiper fluid is heated. Although that probably wouldn't fix the blades, it could have melted any snow that could have been on your windshield...
