M54 -- Map Cooling - Resistance of heater?
I cannot find ANYWHERE listing what the heater element resistance is suppose to be. When probing mine, I'm getting about 5.1 ohms at about 70F ambient temperature. Does anyone know what nominal resistance readings of the thermostat heater is suppose to be??

Thank you for responding. Hmm...16 ohms?
Is that posted anywhere on the bentley manual or something? To my understanding, the heater can unclip out I think.

Well...shoot. Such a stupid thing to replace a whole thermostat with.

Yes. it's likely the corrosion migrated out from the coil which is shorting from it.

The brand of tstat was a STANT. But it was a rebranded/rebadged brand that was marked "made in germany" on it.
