Good to see ya ob. Did you get blower running with a new FSR?

Deoxit Gold for the win
Ordered the FSR, should have it tomorrow. Just knowing it isn't the motor with this test took a huge burden off of me. Things like FSR and connections, I can handle. This would be 3 FSRs in it's lifetime.

I had an FSR that would overheat. I swapped with wife but when testing I didn't bother to put back into the air flow. Don't do that it overheated a lot faster!

OB, Good to see you back. I was wondering if everyone is ok, as I haven't seen you on for awhile!!

Stay safe brother.

Quick follow-up with everyone. Got the new FSR and still have no fan or control. Is there any other advice or suggestions I can try? I tried driving the blower straight from my Foxwell NT-510 and nothing there either, it also shows no codes so I'm stumped.

Diagnosing blower motor in 2003 X5 3.0

This suggests the problem is in the control panel.

Amy chance your white bimmer uses the same control panel?

The foxwell only tells the control panel what to do doesn't direct control the FSR.

You tried all ways to set fan speed? Max button, Auto and vary temp?

Also: contact cleaner and make sure the pins/sockets are in good order. Just one signal pin not making connect can disable the whole thing I'm sure.

Have you already tried bypassing FSR giving direct voltage to blower fan? I mentioned this in post #6.

Hi Clavurion!

Yes I did your test following your post above and fan spooled right up. So I knew my problem wasn't the worse case scenario of a faulty or worn out fan that required the dash removal.

I did cheap out this time and bought OEM Meyle FSR instead of Genuine BMW FSR and noticed the lock for the connector was really hard to get in place without force.

Going back and reading your post above, I saw you had a bad contact so I went back out, visually inspected the pins and sockets and they look fine so I placed the connector in about 90% and viola, the blower fan works now.

My theory is the connector bottoms out and then the extra force needed to get the connector in place causes the socket terminal lock in the connector to swell the sockets providing a less than optimal connection.

Not really sure but the car is 20 years old now so the harnessing can certainly be an issue.

I again want to thank you for your knowledge, there are so many things you have helped me with in my X5 journey over the years. Thank you SO MUCH brother!
