Considering its pre XDrive, I'd say yes

Should have posted this earlier, before it got dirty again! Happily I didn't make it a "4.9i", but had to think about it before I stuck the number on the car. The 6 is much shinier than the 4 or the i, but the Louisiana elements should fix that in short order.
Thinner 3M stuff works great so I need to redo the other side, where I used the thicker stuff that came with the used badging.

It's not an M badge, the 4.6is badge pretty much just signified the engine. The other changes were fairly trivial even to more diehard enthusiasts. Diff ratio changes, interior options, some various features and supposedly a continuously seam-welded chassis (which besides the engine is the biggest difference in a true "is" model vs non-is)
Use dental floss to remove the old badge, goo gone to remove the residue, clean the area properly, use an adhesion promoter if you are feeling particularly "proper" and slap the badge on edit: just saw you have it applied already - I like that you didn't do the "is" and just the 4.6i, that is very OE in my opinion. Very nice |

The 4.6is was available in 4 colors (black, imola red, estoril blue, and titanium silver). It featured 20 inch wheels, wider rims that were fitted over larger brakes than the 4.4. It also had rear fender flares along with different front and rear bumpers. The engine was based on an Alpina design. It had a beefier torque convertor. The 4.6 did have a continuous seam-welded chassis. The 4.4 HP was 290, the 4.6 has 340HP. 0-60 time for 4.4 was 7.5, the 4.6is is 6.2.The diffs ratio is 3.91. Supposedly it was not labeled an M because it was so different than M cars of the past (not a manual trans and was not rear drive)
As a diehard enthusiast, IMO, the differences are significant.

+1 But I prefer removing badging on all but the lowest. My daughter's 128 is badged while my M2C is not. Nor is most of em.. excpet the E30 325. So many subtle differences in badging then that it'd be a shame to lose it.
Also, it has the OG dealer badge on it. I don't even LIKE dealer badges, but c'mon.. 34 YEARS worth? Yeah.. It stays.
