String of GOOD LUCK

I got my trifecta fixed and now I’m coming up on a thousand mile
marker. No dash lights, no leaks, no drips, no problems.
Very excited to feel confident in the E53 again.
A new car wash opened. Signed up for unlimited washes for 3 months.

I got the best looking X5 in Texas!!!!,

GREG

Always feels good. Congrats. I'm on borrowed time, and I can't believe I'm even putting this into the universe... but my E53 hasn't seen an error light in years.

Dude, you're just asking for trouble with a post like this. The car is already plotting how it's going to strand you in the worst possible way.

I was thinking the same but he's already kinda dealt with some worst case crap and has the best resource on earth to find and fix problems.

Public car washes/automatic car washes are a great way to ruin your paint fast.

That's a myth perpetuated by the detailing products community and the enthusiast community has bought it. I used to say it. Now I regularly use tunnel washes on our daily driver f15 (like 4-5 times per week) and even Red occasionally gets washed at a self serve. Just don't use a brush that some mud bogger used and it's fine.

A once a year polish removes any imperfections put in by public washes. Ours are ceramic coated as well so that helps too. But with 6 cars... I'm not hand washing each one with the 2 bucket method. I'd be there all weekend.

My personal experience matches this. I remember from the 80s seeing swirl marks in cars supposedly from auto car wash machines, but on my personal cars I've never experienced this.

I have had my X5 washed at a commercial car wash since I bought it off the showroom floor. Paint looks like new. No ceramic, I wax it every six months.
