5E63 Brake light switch error

Hi
Few month ago my brake light pedal switch died, which was causing the brake lights to always stay on.
After replacement the lights are working as they should, but it creates an issue with the 4x4 system.
When driving, it triggers randomly (can happen after 5km, or not happen after 20) the error "4x4 DSC OFF" with the usual ding and the yellow (!) + 4x4 light staying on. Brake lights still working as they should tho.
Stores the error "5E63 Brake lights switch permanently on".

Shutting down the car, starting again and everthing works fine. Until next ding...
Could it be a faulty new switch? When checking on ista, the switch is activated as i press the pedal.
It's adjusted well - touching the pedal metal thing when released.

I noticed the "brake pressure sensor" is jumping between 1.27bar and 0.00 when not pressed. Could it be the issue?
What readings do you get?
I have this reading all the time but the error code not always.

Sounds like the issue is with the pressure sensor not the switch. Do your brake lights blink?

No, everything lights on and off correctly (checked the reflection of the rear in a building)

Does anyone knows where the pressure sensor is located on a 2005 3.0d? Cannot find in realoem diagrams.

I will try to buy a bmw oem brake light switch, and adjust the brake pedal (it have a small play of ~2mm).

The error weirdly seems to popup quickly when going uphill..

Could be internal to the ABS/DSC unit...

After trying couple of things that did not changed (toping up a small qty of brake liquid, solving the small play on the brake pedal), i bought another brake switch from a better brand (febi).
And...no more error since few weeks.
Did not checked the voltages for the previous switch, but i assumed that a new part should have been working correctly. Wrong..

Thanks for the update. Seems the brake switch is a critical component on modern vehicles (esp. those with any type of DSC system) - not a candidate for a cheap after-market part.
