Headliner option?

After waiting for 5 months on suspension and oil pan work, I finally get a chance to clean out the inside. Emptied remaining parts boxes and reduced carrying tools to a minimum. While vacuuming, I notice these four sliding thingies. What are they? Panoroof access? Mystery black holes?

They are the mount points the cargo barrier/net.

(pics from an e39 but the e53 net is similar - I have one)

Here's the proper e53 pictures...

The e53 version uses the weight of the folded-down rear seats to tension the net.

It has it's own bag to store it in (in the trunk/boot) when not in use.

The net can also be used with the rear seats folder up, using only the top half of the net.

It's very clever and versatile.

+1

I have mine installed right now since kamikaze traffic and kids with groceries in the back makes me worry more...

Very interesting. Do y'all have a part number I can search? Can I get a hook picture? A hook pick will help find a clothes hanging bar. It's better to use that hook option over the roll over handles.

BMW Part number is 51477126507

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...t/51477126507/

There is no "hook" as such - there's a round puck on each end of the upper rod that sits with the ceiling pocket and the pocket cover slides over the puck to hold it in place.

The ECS tuning link? Weird - works for me. Must be related to your location.

It's just a link to the item at an on-line parts seller. At USD$478.00 I doubt anyone is going to rush out and buy a new one. I got mine via an auction site for NZD$100.00

Here's one on eBay (brand new) in Australia....

Yes, weird indeed mate. But you know the Aussie Govt, they are a law unto themselves and lapdogs of the US presidential imperialists. LoL. They have been getting niggly about websites etc lately...I wonder

Apparently here in SA we are now going to have something called climate lock down, Like Covid only no virus.
Not sure how they will spin that one on us yet, early days, but they want to lead the country in the green power ways.
