What's a reasonable number for the 4.8is? (see Post

So- A few months back I started looking for another Cayenne Turbo (08-10 Generation) which I have had both the GTS and Turbo variant.

I've had an '02 4.6is and a '06 4.8is (also a 2012 X5M - stonking fast, but with a fuel consumption that would make the Vikings in Valhalla sing songs of lament) - traded the 02 on a Cayenne Turbo and totaled the 4.8is 24 hours after putting a new (to me) engine in it (loooong, unhappy story).

Whilst looking for the Cayenne TT, I indulged in a wee bit of 4.8is Porn. And here we are.

About three weeks ago on carguru a 06, 4.8is with 64K showed up - black on white looked good. When sorting through the pictures, I spotted the DINAN tips! Oh my! Then the candy box showed two DINAN stickers on the fan shroud and I could see a DINAN cold-box peeking out in the corner of the photo. Double oh my. On the phone I went.

Blah-Blah, can you get it to the nearest BMW dealer for a full PPI. Sure can. Jump ahead three days. Selling dealer sends me a message, can you contact the service manager. Ahhh. Well, I thought, here comes the bad. But wait! There's more!

SM: " I'm actually the tech that prepped this 4.8is for the Owner of this dealership! It was his personal vehicle...!" Heart goes pitty-patter, waiting for the other shoe to drop. "How's the X5, I ask, waiting for the worklist a mile long. Compression crap, motive gear garbage, yada-yada. "Tires" comes the reply. "Sorry" I say? "Tires. They were new in 2009." "Blink". "That's it??". "Yep. Best 4.8is I've seen in a very long time. As in when they were still being sold new". " "Uhhhhhh". (At this point I'm tapping a frenzied message to the selling dealer to hit my card for a deposit). "So, can you tell me about the DINAN installed kit?" "Sure, we did that too!" (Axle-back exhaust, cold air intake, throttle body, Stage Three Tune...(that last part was confirmed with DINAN when I called them for some other kit, which by the way, is guaranteed for life of vehicle, and they're going to re-flash it, I only have to pay the tech time). As you might imagine, I'm now already sweating and hopping from foot-to-foot waiting for deposit confirmation from selling dealer).

So check went out, and now it's mine. It's still with BMW Cincinnati North, having the following done:

Full fluid service front to back. Wasn't required, but I like to start with a clean slate.
New Tires (Conti DDWS 06,) alignment etc.
ECS 20mm Wheel Spacers, x 4.
LED Angel Eye bulb set (ECS)
LED Rear Taillights and corner signal (Ebay)
XTRONS Android 11 Head Unit with backup Camera
DINAN air filter, Pedal Cover Kit, and Signature Floor Mats (They actually had a set sitting on a shelf!) Score! DINAN Badge.
Custom Steering Wheel, heated, from Exclusive (hope to see it shortly)
Exact-Fit ECS Stainless Steel Brake Lines.
ECS Kidney Grille Set, Matte Black
Detailing
Window Tint.
New Key cut.
I might have them go at the belts too. Not sure at this point because the tab is getting up there.

I'm going to be back in the US in about 10 days, and hopefully it will have been shipped to the house where my wife will immediately claim ownership by default.

Some pics below. As soon as I have the finished product, I'll post some.

Good find. How do you rate the X5 against the cayenne? I've had an 03 4.5s but I prefer my 01 4.4

Completely different animal. The Cayenne is just a grunty, planted beast.

I've been wanting another one, preferably a 09-10 Turbo S, with a pano-roof, PDCC, two-tone interior, keyless go.....If the right one comes along I'm afraid the X5 may have to go. But until that time....

Speaking of Porsche ....I sold this to a friend of mine, and he's leaving the country...Custom ducktail, fully integrated into the deck lid, Custom one-of wheels, (plus OEM wheels with new rubber), Tubi axle-back, valved exhaust, annnd, two years left on Factory bumper-to-bumper warranty, with an option to extend another year.

looks like a great find! Does it have the normal wheel arces? I figured it would have the wider flares like my 4.6.

They must keep it on a trickle charger because the post cover is off.

Sweet ride! Hope someone one day will give a ride in a V8! I'm sure the 3.0i doesn't compare.
