It's official, put the deposit down on 2019 X3 M40i, picking it up on Friday
Don't want to break the rules so this is not for sale ad. PM me if interested but here is some basic info: Late production 2006 (08/06, one of the last E53's made). 128k miles Alpine White on Black Rare 3.0 Sport Package, 18" factory wheels, no rear airbag suspension. 2006 only Silver Rings around gauges. Just installed 2 new rear tires / fresh oil change. All records since new. Did bunch of PM when I bought it 2 years ago, recent complete cooling system and much more. Clean Title in hand / Clean Carfax / no accidents or body work. Pictures from 2 years ago when I bough it:

Yes, sweet ride. I have mine or I would take a look at it. The wheels are something I'll upgrade on mine eventually. Probably not until the new 255/60R17s wear out though.

Nice e53!
And nice choice on the G01 M40i! A lot of people I work with have them as lease cars and they're nice and sporty. Pics when you get it.

I love the 18" as perfect balance between too small and too big. 17" to me look too small on E53 X5. |

Love it so far and B58 is something else! There is power and torque all the time, no matter the rpm's. Yes, I know it's turbo trickery but still... And to be fai to E53 X5, build quality is not as good. There is nothing bad or to cheap but this is newer BMW where they're cutting cost wherever they can get way with it while E53 is sort or E39 vs E60 build quality. Like my friend put it well, it feels delicate compared to E53. Nothing delicate about acceleration and the mpg is waaay better than E53 which is amazing, 355 HP vs 225 HP and it's better mpg! |

How about some engine pics? Does the interior feel smaller than an E53? How about some side by side comparison pics?
I don't know about that shift lever joystick. Looks like it will break off real easily.

Not much to see in engine but giant plastic cover with nice "M Performance" lettering. Interior does feel smaller somewhat. especially rear seat but not much overall. I'm 6"3" 215 lbs and front seat feels great although borderline tight. Any bigger person in girth than me will not like it. Whilr some interior pieces are cheaper and feel cheaper than E53 X5, it's not cheap by any means in the sense of Kia Rio or something. The shifter actually feels good quality and remember, there is no "physical" pull against something mechanical but more of just moving the joystick. I would never buy "base" X3 with 4 cyl engine as I felt this one will keep better value than base and if we trully don't like it that much, we can live with it for few years and probably not loose too much value. Honestly, this was as much for my 13 yeard old as much as we really needed it. I'm not trying to impress my neighbours but my 13 year old daughter is actually quite a gearhead but with obvious love for high tech screens etc... She's overjoyed with X3 and that makes it worth to me... |
