But, I don't WANNA tell the F15 guys ab it...

Besides, THIS road trip did START out in an E53! This pic was more about where the car was so my wife could pick it up and save airport parking.
So, you guys know I love to road trip. Add a new BMW, and I'm packing a bag of underpants and deodorant. I also love to find just THAT BMW. My buddy totalled his Dodge Ram last month and the rental folks gave him an X3. He was instantly hooked.

Not at all a BMW enthusiast (see: Dodge Ram) he decided on his budget and his preferred color. He has no idea what were desirable options, the difference between Premium or Sport vs non, etc. I quickly found the newest, lowest mile with the best set of options. It was at an *extremely* well-appointed dealer in Palm Springs, CA. He made the deal at the dealer without even asking if I could do better!

Their shipping was reeeeeD!ckulous, so of course, I volunteered to go get it for him- or even WITH him. He ended up booking us a flight with miles and we were set to Palm Springs.

The day began at 1AM Palm Springs time. But those early flights are the least likely to be cancelled. Besides, even a ridiculous day has a bright spot. Ya just gotta find it! (Note the skiyline in the sunrise. Love that kinda stuff)

Neither of us had ever been to Palm Springs, CA before, so we were impressed enough to dork out right from the plane.
Once at the dealer and fully distracted by an Alpina B8 sedan, , We saw the F15 for the 1st time.

Forum software is buggin. Let's see if this thread posts. Woohooo! It did!
Ok, so onward then! If anyone *really* wants to read the details about why we had the chance to photograph his car without driving it, I will share. But let's just get to the car.

2017 X5 3.5 XDrive. (big breath). 47k miles, one owner car, all records at dealer service. Delivered late 2017 in North Carolina and serviced in Palm Springs for the last 2 years.

Sapphire black on Ivory. I wouldn't have ivory, but it looks awesome.
Leather dash (sooper nice)
Premium Package, LED lights, CWP, *HUD(!) We didn't know this until he drove it.
Running boards, and offset wheels. (dat STANCE)

This thing is a looker. Not a single ding, paint chip, and a it has only a couple surface scratches. They (really) will buff rt out. With these options and that color combo being a single owner, I suspect the PO ordered it the way he wanted it. The dealer service records were maintenance only, and they were at least annually. I think he got a good one, but it *is* an N55. Says the guy with two N62's.

It was a long day, yesterday ending at Sedona, AZ after dark. But the new day would present itself with a wealth of new vistas and experiences. Spoiler alert: The vistas were better than the experiences.
In fairness, The vistas were pretty damn good. Sedona, AZ a 1/2 hour into the day:

F15's make great road trippers. We have a slightly better appointed 2015 (humble brag?), but much less cherry (sigh, was all we could find with the options we wanted) diesel that we bought to replace the wife's E70 diesel (just sold w/ 175k miles) about 1.5 yrs ago.

Anyway, enjoy the trip!
