Remote + lock weirdness

So the other night we came back from a trip. I'd parked at the airport. Remote unlocked everything as expected, lights flashed, beeps beeped.

That was the last time the remote worked. It acts completely dead, though it's only sbout 18 months old. It is a OEM fob bought from a BMW dealer.

Now, if I unlock with the key in the driver's door, only that lock opens, and I get the flash/beeps. The others stay locked. The hatch, which unlocked earlier today using the outside button, won't unlock except by using the console button.

What could be going on here? I do have some water intrusion in the back seat footwells but not sopping/sloshing wet, just dampness. Is there anything electrical under there?

The driver/all unlock sequence is saved "per key" seems it forgot.

I had a similar weirdness happen where the seat would move to the previous owner's location when i unlocked the car with the car. I think with key or fob.

I have no idea how I guessed this would work but about 3x a year or would revert to some old settings and the fix was this:

1. Unlock the car, hit my saved seat memory to put seat/mirrors back

2. Roll down the window

3. Reach out the window and use the key blade to lock and then unlock.

That reset my key fob back to my settings including don't move seat and unlock all doors.

It'll be crazy if it works but gives ita shot.

Worth a try...

One other symptom: the lock/unlock button on the console next to the hazards button only locks/unlocks the left doors.

Yeah that's got to be a module. I forget which runs the windows. Not sure on this model but it can all go through the driver door switch

Welp, tried the lock/unlock trick, and reseated both front door modules. Still nope.

When I lock it with the key, the right doors lock, but don't unlock. But now the console lock button works on all doors, and so does the hatch button on the outside.

All the windows work and never stopped working after this lock/remote problem started.

Gonna try charging the fob with an OralB cordless toothbrush charger. I've seen refs to a Sonicare charger working so maybe the fob really is discharged. I don't know of any other way to test it.

Sounds more likely that DLA failure making some doors work in some directions. Key fob tends to work better for a short time immediately after locking. When my fob died good luck and unlock the car like six times in the first minute, but if I walked away and came back to the car, it would not unlock
