Selector Shaft Seal replacement for 6HP26X transmission?

Anyone know how to replace part 24147571213 (#14 in the diagram) on ZF 6HP26Z? Mine is leaking. TIS indicates special tools required for removing the seal and installing it but can't find them anywhere. I guess I could remove it with a pointy pick tool (risking scratching the shaft cylinder) and install it using the old seal, a washer and the nut to push it in (as demonstrated in the video)? Anyone knows of any tricks to improvise those tools?

You can safely copy or they did in the video. Using a straight pic and prying off the outer edge there’s really no risk.

There are seal pulling tools looks looks a fancy letter T that has sharp points to grab but this one is small enough it’s not needed. Old plus washer plus nut is perfect assembly

I agree, focusing on the outer edge of the seal should be safe. Found this O-Ring Hook set at Harbor Freight. Looks like it would work.

Found the OEM tool on Ebay but it's out of stock and pricy.

Make a cone from a beer can and use the correct size pvc to press over cone onto stub for inner, then slode out cone. Lube the shit out of it with transmission fluid.

The seal looks similar a GM seal. My 700R4 had a leaking seal. A high school shop teacher let me borrow a tool to replace it. Search for a GM tool. It might work. There are several different designs. I've seen one that expands on the end for different size seals.

The tool screws into the seal to grab it.

I did the shift shaft seal on the manual transmission, maybe a little different, but looks kinda the same. It was a pain to get out. Two small screwdrivers, you kind of dent the one side in and it twist it out the other side. It took several minutes, slow progress, super careful not to scratch anything. I put masking tape on the manual rod to not scratch it. To install I put it in the freezer overnight and my 16mm impact socket fit perfect.

If you ever try to drill out a rear main seal, don't, try to pick it for a while first. If you have to drill it, use a good sharp drill bit and center punch it first. Great way to destroy an engine and have to replace the crank. Top 5 dumbest thing I've ever done. 💰

Here's another removal trick for the automatic trans. Quite clever. Skip to 2:51 to see it.
