CV axle bearing question - passenger front

If you aren't trying to save the axle shaft, cut it off so you can get a bearing puller on it. An alternative if you want to save the shaft is to get all thread rods to extend the puller reach.

Good idea. The CV is in decent used shape so if i can save it i will to keep around. Thanks!

project update. Both axles, seals changed without issues. The new GSP axles went right in without any resistance. I was worried if it was tight on the passenger side bearing it might be a bit of a fight, but slid right in. Car is driving fine. Overall this was incredibly easy to do. I did the unbolt the control arms, steering and sway bar method which allowed for the hub to move enough for the axles to clear. Which is good as I might have a oil pan gasket job in the future (slight leak), so good to know I can get the suspension and driveline unhooked in about an hour.

You'll need to drop the subframe to do your OPG. It's a bitch of a job.

Yeah I know I'm not outta da woods yet on that job. I'm just happy the suspension / driveline removal went well. TBD

ATP AT-205 will slow an opg leak substantially.

I tried that, but at the point I tried it the gasket was hard as a rock. When I did the OPG change the rubber was falling off the metal part in chips.

Yeah it's only helpful. I think the problem with bmw gaskets is EU laws having to do with making rubber biodegradable which of course makes no sense whatsoever. Could be a total myth but it aligns with the symptoms we see. My oil sensor gasket failed and 205 slowed the leak 80% until I replaced it and it was like hard clay.
