Oil Plug crusher washer stuck

[DTM_Theory]

I’ve literally tried using side cutters, locking pliers with a ratchet and even a razor blade and the thing won’t budge at all. Any ideas?

Is there a huge risk in just reusing the old washer? i’m out of options here.

Nevermind, I'm a complete air head.

It turns out the flat part is a seat for the washer to sit on between the hex head and the bolt threads. I found the old washer while dumping the old oil into a couple jugs. I put the new one on and torqued it to spec.

Ugh, what a waste of 40 minutes.

I was wondering idly why the "stuck crush washer" was silver!

Feels to me like it's just part of the bolt and more likely the last oil change the crush washer was absent or it went into the drain pan

I got curious, I dont remember my drain plugs looking like that so I searched and there are some that came out in that style.

Yeah that was my fear as well. Until I saw someone on another forum describing what I had later realized. Finding the old crush washer made all my anxiety disappear. phew!

Yeah that's the one! Confusing as hell. I tried looking for old pictures too and couldn't find one matching mine. Good looking out!
