Frontcenter armrest storage area

Does anyone know if this is area is lockable? I recall seeing a parts schematic that showed something that looked like a keyed lock for this area, but I have no idea if that really was a lock. Any ideas?

all i have to say is that if some can break into your car, and worring about having a lockable armrest should be your biggest worry.......sorry not tryin to be an ass its just that i knw the glove box even if you lock it, all you have to do is reach in the back and disconnect this umm well its a black plastic thing and the whole thing opens from the bottom back kinda stupid design in my opinion since it negates the sole purpose of the lock. but back to your question i have never seen lcoking mechanism for the armrest but im sure if you try you can find a modification to put a lock there but no ive never seen one stock.

I'm sure he's asking for purposes when he gives the valet or the carwash dude his valet key.

Putting a lock there would be easy. Keying it to match a Bimmer key would be real tough (like master/glovebox key). I also would like to see a few more interior security features, as backup to exterior locks. I wonder if the glovebox could be wired to lock automatically when key is removed or alarm is set, as an extra hurdle for a potential thief.
