It is after the air filter..I know what you're thinking!!!!!!!!

Last august my local dealer acknowledged surface cracks on the air boot but no leaks (see page 2 of this post)
This morning I decided to take another look, as the whistling is getting louder. Sure enough, I discovered three LARGE cracks
Calling dealer now to order a new one.

I get a whistle noise when i reach about 50mph per hour , but it seems to come from the front windscreen ? When i operate the windshield wipers it stops as they travel ? any thoughts on this ?

For me the part was 27$, and 100 bucks for the hour of labour! But the truck ran so smoothly afterwards!

$22.00 w/tax here. I'll install it on Sunday.

Unhappy

Bad news:

2 BMW dealers have given up on this problem on my 3,0 Turbo Diesel.

Is the only solution to sell the car??

Update:

As I mentioned earlier 2 dealers and now also the car assosiation (FDM) have given up, and I am afraid that I will have to sell the car and get a Mercedes ML instedad!! After several BMWs it will take some time to ajust to. All though they made a first and second place today in F1!

And worst: I will have to leave this fantastic site!

Well I have tried one last thing: I have contacted the BMW factory in Germany, and I am awaiting their reply.

Happy Easter!

Just hear'd the whistle on mine today. Searched for whine in the forums and this is the first post that popped up. Check the air intake boot (part #8 - Tube Elbow on The Cleaner's post) and found some cracks in the folds big enough to stick my fingers in.

Just have to tape it up tomorrow until I can get the part. Thanks for the help guys.
