Cool

Update - Update:

BMW Factory has contacted BMW Denmark (Importer) who now say that they will try to help me with the problem...

Ofcourse it is not 100% sure, that it will be solved, - but at least they try.

Update will follow when any news.

i replaced this boot last night myself and i am still glad that i saved my $260 doing it myself, but christ was it a pain in the ass. Thank god i had an extra set of hands that could squeeze up from under the car, otherwise i would have had at least an extra curse-word filled hour.

PITA

/end rant

I am glad someone posted this. Mine (2003 3.0i with 30K miles) is doing the same thing and it drives me nuts!! I thought it may be in my brakes or something. I hear the high pitch sounds at low speeds and when accelerating. Going to call the dealer and have them get on it. That "Normal crap isnt going to fly". I will let you all know when they take a look next thurs.

Getting the X back today, and this is Such crap.......... I cant believe they are telling me that this high pitch sqealing noise is normal for a $50K car and everything checks out normal and there is nothing that can be done. "Its the so called nature of the beast is what I was told"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So after writing the Service manager who rode along with me and heard the squeel and told me he never heard that before a nasty email he asked me to bring the X back in (for a 3rd time) and have the head of the shop ride along with me. The guy told me that this was not a normal sound (like everyone else said) and he scheduled me to get it looked at today. They just called and said it was the bearing in the Iddle Air valve in the intake. Evidenlty the bearing was loose/broken and was squeeling when I hit the gas and the valve opened to suck air in. He told me he took it for a 3 mile ride and now no more whislting/squeeling. I pick it up today so we will see. Hopefully this is it!!!!

Good freakin post....this sound was driving me nuts and it only required the $27 part as the tube part was cracked - my buddy installed it for me, however, it was not easy.

No it seems the 4.4 has a similar sound but it's not from the same location. I have not seen a 4.4 with this sound yet. If I do I'll post what I find.
