03' 4.4 Engine Surge/Sputter Issue

Anyone ever experience just driving along at highway speeds (40-60MPH) and all of a sudden your engine/tach surges to 3-4k RPM's and the motor starts sputtering but then returns to normal operation? I thought it may have been a gas issue but I've run thru a number of tanks now and the problem is still there.

Mine's done this now a number of times but it does not throw a code and light up the check engine light.

Damn I was hoping someone replied to this post. Mine just did that this morning. I was driving at about 15 mph and it started sputtering. The first thing I did was check my fuel, but I had plenty (1/4 tank). And after about 5 seconds it went away and started driving normal.
What ended up being your problem? I'm guessing spark plugs, or injectors. I hope it's not something expensive.

Thanks for the help, however I figured it out. Pretty similar problem. A week before I changed out my radiator and this tube that falls from the air box was un plugged. I looked in and saw it there.
