I'll take the AMG engine, that's in though. I'll still stick with what I said before. E70 Interior, E53 (pref 4.8) exterior.....

I own an ML500 , its been a great car. gets looks, and driving is pretty fun.

on a side note, the e53 looks alot more aggressive , than the e70 which looks more like an oversized x3. just my two cents.

I understand I might be biased here but I thank my stars for for making me yield to the temptation and get E53 instead of waiting for E70. I spent about an hour walking around an E70 at a local dealer. It is bigger but it feels like it is made of tin. E53 is solid and it looks solid, and at the same time it stands out. I had so many double takes at local shopping centers just to make sure it was E70 and not some Acura or VW. E70 lost X5's identity.

I hope it can grow on me since it is still part of our family.

Happy New Year to everybody.

Ditto for me. It's like Jennifer Connelly vs. Scarlett Johanssen. I'll take Jen.

I like the looks of the E70, except for the front end. They made it look too much like the X3. Put the E53 nose on the rest of the E70 body, and you've got a winner. =)

No contest here...I think the E53 looks much better. BMW forgot that they created this segment. Instead of leading the pack they are following. The E70 has the same bumper style as the Volvo XC90...reflector on the bumper . They also need to be careful with the back slope as it is starting to look more like a hatchback, yuk.

given the size of the 2 vehicles, i'm starting to think the e70 as a total new vehicle, just same name
it's just a different approach, making it more comfy of a ride away from sportiness and towards minivan 7 seats option.
it'll grow on me i'm sure as time goes by, but "new X5" might actually be the X6 in terms of more fair comparison
