I need to replace my hood emblem as it is peeling. Any suggestion/trick to remove the current one?

It is held in place by friction clips. Place a rag on the hood so you do not scratch the paint, and with a butter knife or other dull blade gently slide under and pry up the emblem, first one side, then the other, little by little. Good luck

My dealer took one of those packaging bands and slid it under the emblem. He held onto both ends and pulled it right off.

Just did mine today, i used a punch out pin it's a steel pin w\ point on one end and flat on the other, and just used easy taps with a hammer on both pins of emblem and out it came piece of cake.

We have tools specifically for this job:

This prevents paint scratching when removing your old emblems. More info can be found here: http://www.xoutpost.com/vendor-forum/...tool-sets.html

Mine is peeling too. Looks like crap. What's a new one gonna set me back? Nothing is cheap when it comes to this vehicle!

$25-$32 OEM

VD_COOL on ebay is one poo seller for emblems. Trunk is alright. Hood emblem is beyond belief.

All i have to say is... spend the extra buck, its worth it. Just use the overlays on OEM emblems 10yrs > 1yr/less. IMO when i went black i never wana go back. Blue looks alien on a X5 to me now.
