Yeah there is quite a bit too it! Plus you will need to remove some of your interior and seats to do it correctly as a new wiring loom will need to be fitted. The screen will not work without either the Nav Unit or the TV modual. Take a look at this link, and do a search on here for more info. They may also be a few members on here that done this mod that can give you some better info.

Thank you....... I think board monitor & cd changer may go back on Ebay... bought the bluetooth module the same way.... 400 & something pound later for the fitting kit... ive got the fitting to look forward too..... I dont actually want sat nav or tv just thought it would look better with screen controlling music system ill let the forum know about the blue tooth fitting try to give something back speak soon... Yeah I know what you mean, I'm glad my X5 had the complete BMW system as standard! but I did have the same problem with my e39 a few years back. It had no Screen and I wanted to do the BMW retrofit but it was quite a bit of work and the screen will just not work without the rest. So what I did to get a similar factory finish look for the my e39 was I purchased a Double Din system similar to this

Then I purchased a double din facia plate from this guy:
http://www.mybimmer.net/x5doubledintrim.htm

And the look you get is something like this:

and the whole system look fantastic, less hassle and a cheaper mod than retrofitting the original BMW unit.

Thanks Sudesh, will give it a ponder this afternoon... can get the radio module for about £200 but after the bluetooth fiasco Im sure the loom will be £400 & the dreaded v.a.t for just purely show, as i wont use sat nav or t.v. I suddenly really love the Business C.d player I already have.... Alex
