Finally happend to mine - SELFLEVEL SUSP INACT
So after a couple more days of it not magically disappearing, I decided it was time to go in for service. It went it to Paul Miller BMW in Wayne, NJ today. My service advisor calls me this afternoon with some not so good news -- I need a new "air suspension control unit". Part itself costs somewhere around $800, and with labor and programming I am looking at a grand total of $1100. Truck has 60K miles, so my warranty is long gone. I am just going to bite the bullet and have it done by Paul Miller -- I dont know many other independent shops that I would trust and I just need to get this done and have my truck back. My question is for all of you that have had this problem before, have any of you had the culprit being a faulty control unit? And if so, I am curious as to how much you spent getting it fixed. I have read of many people not having this problem go away after the first visit -- but if I am going to pay that much, this better be the end-all of this problem!

i have a cpo'd 03 4.6 that has had about 6 self level susp inactive's !!
they've replaced all of the parts associated with this retatred thing within the last year or so , and guess what it happenned again the other nite !! unfortunetly i don't think this will be the end of your problems , maybe just the beginning !! this is a very common problem in our trucks !! only 1 time the fuse was blown otherwise it was a major part every other time !! thank god for cpo !!

My X encountered this problem too 1 year ago, and dealer replaced a new control unit for me for about US$150. Now everything is fine. As I know, the unit for two axle leveling system is much more expensive than one axle.
