Its' a fun motor, but its not particularly powerful down low, the S52 is nearly as torquey. Also the power is very delivered in a very linear way, so it does not seem extremely fast, so even in an MCoupe a popular modification is switching from a 3.15LSD to a 3.73LSD, just to get that torque. Keep in mind in a 3100lb. 2wd vehicle I am only getting 18mpg with the S54 as well...this motor is going to work HARD in an X. Best of luck with your swap.

you honestly think this engine swap would create a slower than stock 3.0 x5? Are you still thinking its mated to an auto? "Slow as sh!t" give your heads a shake. I mean. obviously there is no v8 6spd x5's or we wouldn't be discussing this, or has this been done?

ive actually done it you need to fabricate alot to do it, but its well worth it since its been done...
i will try to post some pics.. if you have any specific questions i sure i could help.. i know a guy that can make you a custom oil pan you definatelly need that for starters....
