I worked on both micro switches today. The one on the right side was totally trashed. I reshaped it to match the one on the left and put it back in. They still won't stay closed. They're also kind of floppy, so I think I'll put in the new motor and gears I bought and see what happens.

This is the exact same problem as mine and now it's stopped working altogether.

Is there a fix for this?

Mirror

A related note, I’ve got one of these folding mirrors in my storage space and am happy to give it to someone. I bought it some time ago on eBay thinking it was the older, non-folding variety that I have on my car.

My drivers side frame is rusting under the paint, which I gather is quite common, so I figured I’d buy one, fix it up and swap it in. Unfortunately the folding variety showed up.

I have no idea if the folding and mirror functionalies work, but am happy to donate it to someone if they need it. PM me if interested.

There are two possible fixes. One is to purchase the repair kits they sell on line. They aren't really difficult to install. The other is to purchase used electric folding mirrors and swap them. The painted cover comes off and you just swap it onto the replacement mirror. I've done both. The mirror swap is by far the simplest.

Probably the least expensive is Aliexpress, if you can wait a couple of weeks for it. Example:

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256807082394348.html (currently less than $18)

You can get similar kits on eBay or Amazon.

Nice!! What I need are new microswitches. So far no source available.

One review on the mirror kit.
"Dont buy its not fit both of X5 and Jeep and can not refund because shipping take time too long"

I got a kit on eBay that looks like these and it's trash. Waste of $.
