Noob in the house!

Hey guys! I've been readin the forum for a couple of months now. I bought myself a 2005 X5 4.4 for my b-day. A couple of weeks have gone by and I can go a day without looking at it every time I walk by a window in the house. (I think) Anyway a couple of questions.

I bought the vehicle out of state and hired a private inspector that gave it the nod. However as the temp has dropped here in Va I've noticed I'm getting hardly any heat, room temperature air. 1st - I assume this is covered under warranty, even though I'm second owner. Is this a known issue or just my luck?

Also I can see the front pads have about 25% life left. Are the pads and rotors also covered? If not can someone please recommend a good set of pads that don't break the bank?

And last I need a front bumper license plate bracket. Can someone steer me in the right direction to find one?

Oops I got one more, first mod, running boards or upgrade the angel eyes?

Thanks in advance!!

Welcome to the mess. Local VA too

Ok here is goes. The heat, make sure you are turning off the A/C. that is all the useful info I have on that....go see a dealer....good luck

As far a brake pads go.....Yes they are covered till 50K. However all the stinkin' dealers here will NOT replace your pads till the pad sensor goes off. I have less than 5mm on my rear pads and the dealer will not replace them for free. I have even went to 2 different locations.

Plate bracket...dealer

Mods...do a aFe intake, get a scan tool,x-pipe, and do the lights....from this place http://www.angelibright.com/cart/ind...chk=1&Itemid=1

Welcome. I am a VA member too. No heat can be the stuck thermostat or you didn't turn the DIAL in the MIDDLE of the vents TO RED. If it is blue and even with the A/C off you still dont get heat. Just turn it to RED and I hope it is not the oil seperator issue. But anyway if your car is still under warranty, the dealer will take care of it.

Never saw the red dial thing in the middle that was it! Thx for the heads up! I'm a little confused, if you can set the thermostat and put it on auto why is the dial necessary? Or why is there no "neuatral" setting?
