Choosing the Best Wipers?

I've tried a handful of wipers (Bosch, Rain-X, Trico), but none of them seem to fit, despite chosing the proper size as recommended in the wiper booklet.

The problem is in getting the metal wiper assembly to "snap" into the plastic clip on the actual blade.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, can you recommend a good wiper combination that's easy to install?

Thanks!

What wipers are you having trouble with? Many sugguest Bosh Icons since they work well and are of high quality.

The part numbers are:
Drivers side front : 424A
Passenger side front : 421B (422B works also, but may hang off the windshield when in the off position)
Rear : 418A

Thanks for the quick reply - I'm pretty sure I tried those particular Bosch wipers and couldn't get them to "snap" in... I was amazed that a German company that provides wipers to BMW dealers could publish a blade for the X5 that didn't fit?

Just today I bought some Rain-X Weatherbeather blades today. Models 22 and 24 for the front passenger/driver respectively.

Cannot get them to "click" in to the J-hook... it just falls right out.

Any Suggestions?

For the Icon's, you have to remove the clip on the wiper arm. They fit great and are an excellent choice for the X5. Many here use them... use the search above and you will find a ton of posts.

edit: should have specified that the clip to remove is on the driver's side wiper arm only.

I didn't like the fit of the RainX in the wiper arm. Simple fix was to put a tie
wrap (black for color matching) in the hole in front of J hook so it can't come off. Presto it works great.
